KTZ subsidiary to build two dry cargo ships in Baku for Trans-Caspian routeKTZ Express Shipping, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan’s national railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), will build two multipurpose dry cargo ships at the Baku Shipyard, KTZ’s press service said. The ships are planned for use on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), which links Asia and Europe.“Developing its own sea fleet will let Kazakhstan manage cargo shipments more efficiently, increase the route’s capacity and create additional conditions for attracting international cargo flows,” KTZ said. The TITR links China and Europe through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. Cargo on the route totaled about 4.7 million tonnes in 2025 and is expected to reach 5.5 million tonnes in 2026. (ICE ALMATY)
