THE MINISTRY OF TRADE'S COMMITMENT TO DRIVING INDONESIA'S MODEST FASHION Industry in Domestic and Global Markets

The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), together with Bank Indonesia, has strengthened its commitment to developing the national modest fashion industry through the staging of IN2MOTIONFEST x JMFW 2026 in Jakarta. To bolster the domestic market, Kemendag is collaborating with the Indonesian Shopping Center Tenants and Retailers Association (Hippindo) through business matching programs to help local products penetrate department store networks and shopping malls. Meanwhile, in the international market, Kemendag actively facilitates export businesses by connecting them with overseas buyers online through Indonesian trade representatives (perwadag) abroad.   The modest fashion sector has proven to hold immense economic potential, with Indonesia's export value reaching USD 5.97 billion during the January–August 2026 period, representing a year-on-year growth of 2.89 percent. This achievement continues the positive trend from 2025, which recorded exports of USD 8.67 billion. According to the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) 2025/26 report, Indonesia successfully ranked first in the world in the modest fashion sector in 2025, amidst global Muslim consumer spending on apparel and footwear projected to surge to USD 444 billion by 2029.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5790709/mendag-dorong-penciptaan-pasar-fesyen-modest-baru (ICE GIACARTA)
