KAZAKHSTAN-BASE/RATE-ANALYSTS-FORECAST - 2

continuation:CASE FOR A PAUSEZhannur Ashigali, director of the sovereign and regional ratings group at ACRA, believes the National Bank will keep the rate at its current level at the upcoming meeting, despite the gradual slowdown in inflation in recent months. He points to the potential for price growth to accelerate in the remaining months of this year amid strong demand and seasonal factors. Fiscal stimulus is also highly likely to increase in the period ahead, slowing disinflationary trends."In the most likely scenario, the next decision will be driven by the coming path of inflation — 8.5-9% by the end of this year and a slow reduction toward the target over a year to 18 months, with expectations of 4-5% economic growth and stronger fiscal stimulus. Therefore, despite the disinflationary trend and economic activity within potential growth, the regulator has two decision rounds before the end of the year, and it is more likely to keep current conditions in October but reach 16% by year-end," Ashigali said. The National Bank of Kazakhstan's next scheduled base rate decision will be announced at noon Astana time on October 23, 2026.
