SINGAPORE APPOINTS CONSULTANTS AHEAD OF UN NUCLEAR WATCHDOG’S REVIEW IN 2027

[SINGAPORE] Two Singapore agencies have appointed international nuclear energy consultants to deepen the Republic’s capabilities in this sector, ahead of a review by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2027. The National Environment Agency (NEA) has appointed three consultants for studies on nuclear energy’s environmental impact and safety, while the Energy Market Authority (EMA) has appointed 12 firms to provide expertise on a range of issues, the agencies announced on Tuesday (Oct 27). EMA will appoint a second panel of nuclear energy technical advisers by the end of 2026 “to support Singapore in nuclear energy capability-building efforts”. Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry) Tan See Leng reiterated on Tuesday that many studies are needed before Singapore can make an informed decision on nuclear energy’s deployment, even as he noted that it presents a “promising solution”.   https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/singapore/singapore-appoints-consultants-ahead-un-nuclear-watchdogs-review-2027 (ICE SINGAPORE)
