DUBAI GDP REACHES $128.8 BILLION IN H1 2026 AMID SECTORAL SHIFTS
Dubai’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached approximately AED 473 billion ($128.8 billion) in the first half of 2026, marking a 2.3% decrease year-on-year at constant prices while nominal GDP (at current prices) edged up 0.2% to AED 505 billion ($137.5 billion). According to data from the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, the economy demonstrated strong sectoral diversification and resilience in key strategic areas—led by substantial real growth in healthcare (14.3%), financial and insurance activities (8.8%), utility services (5.4%), information and communication (2.7%), and construction (2.4%). Financial services notably expanded its contribution to real GDP to 14%, generating AED 65.9 billion. Conversely, inflation and broader global market changes weighed on heavy-weight traditional sectors, resulting in real-term declines in wholesale and retail trade (-6%), transportation and storage (-7.4%), real estate (-2.5%), and manufacturing (-0.9%), despite positive growth at current prices in trade and real estate. Government officials underscored that these results reflect the adaptability of Dubai's broad economic framework, driven by digital transformation, technological innovation, and the strategic objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
