SINGAPORE TO RATIFY ASEAN HAZE COORDINATION CENTRE AGREEMENT ‘IN THE NEXT FEW DA
[SINGAPORE] The Republic will soon ratify an agreement to establish an Asean haze coordination centre in the coming days, as it prepares to assume chairmanship of the regional bloc in 2027. Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu said in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 3) that Singapore will work with other member states to strengthen the implementation of the Asean Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution (AATHP), which was first signed in 2002. The agreement to establish the Asean Coordinating Centre for Transboundary Haze Pollution Control would come into force only after six Asean member states ratify the pact. Singapore will submit its instrument of ratification “in the next few days”, said Fu, in a reply to parliamentary questions on the recent haze episode. “We will strongly encourage other Asean member states to do so.” https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/singapore/economy-policy/singapore-ratify-asean-haze-coordination-centre-agreement-next-few-days-grace-fu (ICE SINGAPORE)
