INDONESIAN MINISTRY OF TRADE DESIGNATES PATCHOULI OIL AS WAREHOUSE RECEIPT System Commodity

The Indonesian Ministry of Trade has officially designated patchouli oil (minyak nilam) as a storable commodity under the national Warehouse Receipt System (SRG), formalized through Minister of Trade Decree Number 2055 of 2026. Tirta Karma Senjaya, Head of the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), explained that structured assessments confirmed the feasibility of patchouli oil within the SRG ecosystem, supported by established market readiness, supply chains, financing mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks. The initiative aims to enhance productivity, maintain quality standards, stabilize market prices, and elevate the economic value of this essential raw material for global perfume, cosmetics, and aromatherapy industries. With this new policy, patchouli oil becomes the 31st commodity eligible for warehouse receipts in Indonesia, expanding the existing registry governed by Minister of Trade Regulation Number 14 of 2026. The decision follows extensive cross-ministerial consultations and industry stakeholder engagement across the entire supply chain, from upstream farmers to downstream processors. By integrating patchouli oil into the SRG alongside commodities such as coffee, cocoa, cloves, and white crystal sugar, the government intends to reinforce the national essential oil trade ecosystem and provide local producers with accessible post-harvest financing and inventory protection.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5835623/kemendag-tetapkan-minyak-nilam-jadi-komoditas-srg (ICE GIACARTA)
