WEST JAVA AND SOUTH KOREA'S GYEONGSANGBUK-DO EXPAND BILATERAL COOPERATION INTO Trade and Investment
The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) is officially broadening its long-standing bilateral partnership with South Korea’s Gyeongsangbuk-do Province beyond sports diplomacy to encompass economy, trade, investment, human resource development, and tourism. During a bilateral meeting at Gedung Sate in Bandung, Vice Governor Erwan Setiawan and Gyeongsangbuk-do Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs Hwang Myeongseok agreed to transition the 16-year relationship into productive, high-impact economic initiatives. Erwan emphasized that interregional cooperation must move beyond ceremonial diplomacy to deliver direct socio-economic benefits and drive sustainable welfare for local communities.Acknowledging West Java as a strategic hub for South Korean industrial leaders such as Hyundai Motor, Samsung Electronics, and Hankook Tire, Hwang highlighted Gyeongsangbuk-do’s industrial strengths in Pohang’s steel sector as well as electronics and semiconductors. The expanded collaboration will focus on integrating industrial supply chains, attracting new foreign direct investment, and leveraging traditional cultural assets to generate economic value and boost regional tourism. Pemprov Jabar expects that this multi-sectoral framework will accelerate foreign investment inflows and support sustained regional economic growth.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5835179/jabar-perluas-cakupan-kerja-sama-dengan-gyeongsangbuk-do-korsel (ICE GIACARTA)
